Graduate Thesis Research Proposal Submission and Thesis Evaluation Procedures

Announcement: 2025-1 Graduate Thesis Submission Process

📌A. Eligibility:

- Those who have passed the qualification examination (comprehensive examination, foreign language examination) by 2024-2 semester

- Students enrolled in the 2025-1 semester (leave of absence students are not eligible)

In the period of leave of absence, it is not possible to submit the research proposal. Please be enrolled for the following semester if you wish to submit your thesis proposal.

- Those who can fulfill the graduation requirements, including 1 semester of DIRECTED RESEARCH 1(For doctoral students, enrollment in DIRECTED RESEARCH 2)

note that DIRECTED RESEARCH course enrolled before passing the comprehensive exam will not be counted towards your graduation requirements.*Kindly note that you will be automatically enrolled for DIRECTED RESEARCH 1/2.

📄B. Procedure for submission (and approval of research Proposal:

- Period: Feb 13(Thu) 2025 ~ March 14(Fri) 2025 (deadline cannot be extended)

- Academic portal system → Academic administration → Graduation → Graduation Evaluation Type → 학위논문 Thesis → Click Designation → ☆Consent to the graduate thesis ethics commitment☆ → Submit Research Proposal on Yonsei Portal → (Approval) Thesis Advisor → Submission of the approved copy of the proposal to the department office → (Approval) Department Office → (Approval) Graduate School

* Considering the time it takes for the Thesis Advisor/Department office/ Graduate School to approve the proposal, please submit your proposal well before the deadline.

** The English name on the Yonsei portal will be used in all certificates. Please ensure that the English name on the Yonsei portal matches the English name written on your passport.

👥C. Thesis Evaluation Committee Selection:

Students should submit the name list of the thesis evaluation committee to the Yonsei portal by March 14(Fri) 17:00.

Period: Feb 13 (Thu) 2025 ~ March 14 (Fri) 2025

🔍D. Plagiarism Check (Mandatory)

-Please remember to submit your Plagiarism Inspection Results before evaluating the thesis.

📝E. Preliminary Evaluation

- Period: March 21(Fri) 2024 ~ April 25(Fri) 2025

Since the department office has to submit the preliminary evaluation results by the 25th of April, students are expected to complete their evaluation by the 23rd of April.

✅F. Final Evaluation

- Period: May 23(Fri) 2025 ~ June 20(Fri) 2025

Since the department office has to approve/submit the final evaluation results by the 20th of June to the Graduate School, students are expected to complete their evaluation by at least the 18th of June. Otherwise, we cannot guarantee that the reports will be approved on time.

📚G. Submission of the final thesis (contingent on the library schedule)

- Online Submission Period: July 3 (Thu) 2025 ~ July 18(Fri) 2025 17:00

*Hardbound thesis submission is no longer required starting from the Spring semester of the 2025 academic year.
